Tool Derusting with White Vinegar

This is a trick/technique I wish I had learned years ago... but if you have a shop with old tools, or you pick up some (new to you) tools at a swap meet or yard sale that are rusted but still look usable, save some elbow grease and gleam them up this way. It's inexpensive and fool proof. I wish I had taken a few photos before starting this, and may add a few to this post later, but the results are already beyond impressive. The vinegar strips off the rust and leaves a like new finish on corroded areas like a champ. In only a few days you can reclaim parts or tools that looked hopelessly lost. Simply rinse things off when they come out of the bath, dry them, and add a liberal coating of WD40 and you'll be good to go.

Enjoy!
